What can I expect from my first BJJ Class at Pure
Your first Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) class at Pure Jiu-Jitsu is an exciting and transformative experience. As you step onto the mats, you can expect to be warmly welcomed by our friendly and supportive community. Our experienced instructors will guide you through the fundamentals of BJJ, ensuring that you feel comfortable and confident as you begin your journey. You’ll learn the basic positions, techniques, and principles of BJJ, building a solid foundation upon which you can grow and develop your skills.
During your first BJJ class at Pure Jiu Jitsu, you’ll engage in both solo and partner drills to practice the fundamental movements and transitions of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. You’ll also have the opportunity to participate in light sparring sessions, where you can apply what you’ve learned in a controlled and safe environment. Our instructors will be there every step of the way, providing guidance, feedback, and support. Expect to leave your first class feeling empowered, energized, and inspired to continue your BJJ journey. Whether you’re a complete beginner or have previous martial arts experience, we’re confident that your first class at Pure Jiu Jitsu will be a memorable and transformative experience.
Tony Pycroft is the Founder, Owner and Head Instructor of Pure Jiu Jitsu Southern Highlands.
Tony holds a 2nd Degree Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Tony was awarded his Black Belt by his Coach Anthony Perosh, who is a 4th Degree Black belt under Carlos Machado (8th Degree Coral Belt).
Tony has successfully competed in World Championships in America, not to mention many other major competitions in Australia. In 2022 Tony took home double gold at the Australian Nationals in Melbourne and more recently in February 2023 took the gold at the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam World Tour by submitting both his opponents.
Above all of this, Tony is a family man with a wife and two beautiful children. Tony believes that martial arts is a great way to become the best version of yourself, for yourself and your family whether you decide to do a martial art as a lifestyle change or for competition.
